One year ago today.......

We moved into this place. We are spending this weekend packing up again. I guess the flood threat this year is pretty high and we've been given notice to move our valuables to higher ground. Most of our stuff is still packed away in the garage waiting for the addition on our place to be done.......and it is almost finished....sigh. So instead of starting the tile and flooring this weekend we are beginning the process of sorting, organizing and moving. The new room is on hold till the flood threat is over. I'm trying not to worry about it. It might not happen but it's better to be prepared just in case it does.

Our new bedroom!

It's almost there. I'm still waiting on the the drywallers to finish up and then we move onto paint, tile and flooring. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. The room will be large enough to basically be our own retreat center (or as I say...... my escape from reality) As for new bedding.......still looking. Oh, and no, the toliet will not remain in the middle of the room.

The drywall is up. I don't know how well I'm going to deal with the dust though. It gets into everything!! If all goes well it should be done by the end of the week and I'll be painting.

Today I'm going to pick out some new bedding so I can decide what color to paint the walls. Yay!! Gary is so great......he took one look at me this morning and said " You look exhausted, why don't you go shopping and get all the new bedding." He knew I wasn't so much physically tired as just plain all "kidded" out. I need a non-mom day badly.

So I'm out of here very shortly. I'll try to post pics of the room shortly.

Spring is here! The tree in our front yard has bloomed into pretty pink flowers and with it comes the bees. Our tree is covered in hundreds of bees right now. Seriously the buzz is so loud that I can hear it from my front door. I have never seen a swarm of bees before but I am thinking that this just might be one. We are steering clear of the front yard right now.

So the drywallers are set to arrive at 7:30am tomorrow to begin putting up the board. So much for sleeping in. In other news we took a closer look at our roof last night as there has been a leak and sure enough the whole roof needs to be re-done. Yuk. We will have to put up some tarps till then. We are hoping for nice weather next weekend and a few helping hands so we can just get it done quickly.

Caleb's quote for today

While driving home today he says to his friend "See that building we just passed. It's been there all my life."

dude.

Yep, the drywall has arrived. Tomorrow they start putting it up. Ask me how happy I am. VERY!

Yesterday while I was out getting my hair done my in-laws came by and totally cleaned up the garden in the front yard. They even planted some new flowers for me. They said they will be back next week to start work on the backyard. They moved into an apartment last year so I'm thinking that they are missing gardening.

Caleb's quote for today

"So, mom, I was thinking that Gary isn't really a kid type name so what did grandma and grandpa call dad when he was a kid?"

My response "Umm....Gary."

His response "Oh. I was thinking it's a good name for a dad or a snail but not a kid."
